MOSEAN Data: Deployment 2

February 10 - May 5, 2004

Limited data files can be found on the DEPLOYMENT 2 DATA page. Some data figures are shown below.

(Click on images for larger versions)

Temperature and Salinity Temperature
Left: Stack plots of temperature and salinity (1-hr avg), Right: Contour plot of temperature (12-hr avg).
Note the decrease in salinity starting on about day 50 due to the passage of a winter storm. Also note the upwelling in the spring.

Ed4 ed11
Hyperspectral Left: Ed(4 m), Right: Ed(11 m).
Top panels show a time series of daily noon spectra, bottom panels are stackplots of all spectra from 6 am until 6 pm, PDT.
Note: The sensor at just above the surface failed.

Lu2 Lu4 Lu11
Hyperspectral Left: Lu(2 m), Middle: Lu(4 m), Right: Lu(11 m).
Top panels show a time series of daily noon spectra, bottom panels are stackplots of all spectra from 6 am until 6 pm, PDT.
Note: Biofouling toward the end of the time series.

a c
Hyperspectral Left: at-w at 4 m, Right: ct-w at 4 m.
Top panels show a time series of 12-hr averaged spectra, bottom panels are stackplots of all spectra.
Note: This is the first in situ time series of hyperspectral absorption and attenuation.
Data are biofouled after about 45 days (a) and 55 days (c).

bb Chl a
Left: Spectral bb at 4 m (top), bb(532nm) at 10 m (middle) and 22 m (bottom); Right: Chl-a at 4 m (top), 10 m (middle), and 22 m (bottom).
Note: bb data are biofouled toward the end of the deployment.
